IPGRB, ELGO DEMETER has developed an innovative method of holistic management of rice paddy fertilization using precision agriculture technologies, dji drone for spraying and recording with a camera, through meteorological measurements, mapping of the fields by UAVs and the use of the maps in variable fertilizer spreaders rate (VRA). The service can be leveraged to better redistribute nitrogen fertilization, increase yield and produce high-quality products at reduced costs and a smaller environmental footprint.

Applications of innovative management and conventional fertilization will be installed in the pilot fields of the program (a total area of at least 80 acres). In each field, the required amount of nitrogen per spatial management zone will be estimated and the fertilization maps will be uploaded to the VRA fertilizer distributors, where, using GPS, the required amount will be applied to the appropriate zones. At the same time, the Good Agricultural Practices for corn will be implemented.

In all the pilot fields, an economic analysis will be carried out, the quality, the NO₃⁻ content of the seeds and the levels of nitrate pollution in adjacent water sources will be assessed. The results of using the innovative service will be compared with the usual lubrication practices, the advantages will be recognized and the potential problems will be solved. The service will be used in the future, in addition to reducing the cost of cultivation, to produce high-quality, low-cost and low-environmental products.
